To ensure that with this layout, things do not interfere with closing/opening the doors, an area of ​​shelves is installed at the entrance, the width of which is 30-40 cm. Here you can store shoes in boxes, place drawers for underwear and small items, shelves for sweaters/jumpers, etc. Then you can arrange a storage area on hangers 60 cm wide.

With medium width

If the width of the dressing room in the pantry is 150 cm or more, you can arrange a double-sided storage system - to the right and left of the entrance. In this case, the doors are positioned so that on one side there remains a distance to the wall of 55 cm (taking into account the installation of the door frame and platband, this will be 60 cm). Here you can place an area with hangers. On the other hand, make shelves 30 cm wide across the entire wall.

This layout is maintained up to a room width of 175 cm. In this case, another arrangement simply does not work. So if your closet in the pantry is 150-175 cm wide, simply change the width of the shelves, leaving a passage 60 cm wide. By the way, if the residents are large, you can leave the width of the shelves the same and increase the passage. In this case, it will be more comfortable for a large person.

For wider closets

With a width of 175 cm or more, hangers can be placed on both sides, allocating 60 cm under them on the right and left. In this case, a pipe for storing things on hangers is placed at a height of 200-210 cm, and a wide shelf is made above it to accommodate bulky and rarely used items (spare pillows/blankets, suitcases, out-of-season clothes).

At a height of 50-60 cm, shelves or drawers are installed under the hangers for storing things and shoes. With this option, the doors usually open outward. Otherwise, when open, they block access to part of the clothing. But, if the dressing room opens into a narrow or dark room(corridor, for example), the doors should open outward. Because there is a high probability that if you forget to close the doors, you can crash your forehead into the end of the slightly open door. This is much worse than inconvenience.

If the width of the dressing room is 2 meters or more, it is already possible to place things on three sides. To do this, make three cabinets with overlap - one cabinet overlaps the other. In this case, the area on the left is made shorter and a second cabinet is installed, the length of which is 60 cm shorter than the width of the pantry. And only the area to the right of the entrance takes up space from one wall to another (see picture above).

Why do you need to do this? Because if you are right-handed, then in order to get to things located in the overlap area of ​​cabinets (in the corners) you will need to move things away and it will be more convenient to do this right hand. With your left hand at this time you will remove the desired hanger. On the contrary, it is inconvenient for a right-handed person to do this.

Location of the pantry/dressing room and its contents

	Shelving along one wall. This option is suitable for very narrow (less than 1.2 meters) spaces. Shelves are placed along the entire wall, leaving a passage along the length of the structure. It looks like an open closet. A very narrow pantry is equipped in this way.
	L-shaped shelving. A more rational option, suitable for rooms with a width of 150 cm or more. Usually, a crossbar is placed at the end for storing outerwear, or a compartment is equipped for storing a vacuum cleaner and other equipment.
	U-shaped version. The most functional and spacious solution, in which the structure is located along three walls. The configuration of the shelves can be any, the main thing is that there is a passage in the middle of at least 60 cm wide.

As for filling the dressing room, it all depends on the type and quantity of clothes and shoes that will be stored. In addition, some things can be stored in drawers or on open shelves. The sizes of compartments for different types of things are shown in the diagram below. Based on this, select the configuration of your storage system.

You can make a dressing room from different materials:

You can order the elements already cut to your size and simply assemble everything on site, or you can cut everything yourself (but I still recommend using ready-made parts). If you have an old hallway, you can adapt it; such furniture is well suited for dressing rooms.
	Modular systems. A great wardrobe solution for our small closets. A simple design of racks, brackets, shelves and compartments that are arranged in the order you need and allow you to optimize the system the way you need it. The only negative is the considerable price, but the convenience is worth it.
	Structures made from furniture pipes. Another good option, for the construction of which furniture pipes are used. Racks are placed on which shelf holders, crossbars and other elements are attached in the right places. A simple and interesting solution.

You can combine different designs in your dressing room, there are no rules. Do what suits you best.

Having chosen the design and material of manufacture, make a sketch of the future storage system. This way you will know its configuration and main dimensions.

Stage 2 - laying communications

When a dressing room is equipped from a closet, it is necessary to install wiring and install a fan for forced ventilation. This work must be carried out before finishing, so as not to spoil the surfaces later. The following should be done:

	Grooves are made for wiring. You need to mark the locations of switches and sockets in advance, think over the lighting system, and based on this, make grooves for laying the cable. Do not forget that you need to connect the wire to the fan installation location in the wall.
	Wiring being laid. At the same time, boxes are placed for switches and sockets.
	A hole is made for the fan. You can drill it using a special bit, or you can use a hammer drill to drill holes around the perimeter and knock out a piece of the wall.

Stage 3 - preparation and finishing of the premises

Instructions for this stage look like this:

• First of all, remove all items from the storage room.. Throw away what you don't need, fold what you need and then place it at the bottom of the shelves. One way or another, everything needs to be removed from the room;
• Walls, floor and ceiling are cleaned of old finishes. If you have an apartment in a panel house, then it may turn out that you will need to seal the joint between the slabs on the ceiling. This is done in advance, a special composition is used;

• Stacked flooring . It can be like laminate or wooden plank, and cheap linoleum. You don’t even have to attach it, just cut a piece to the size of the pantry and stick it around the perimeter with tape;

• Walls are leveled and finished. The dressing area is the easiest to paint. If there are uneven spots on the walls or ceiling, the surface is first puttied and only then painted. The ceiling is decorated in the same way; it is best to use white paint for painting, since the room is small and there is no natural light in it.

For work, use washable paints. In this case, the walls will not stain your clothes, and if necessary, you can quickly wash the surfaces with a regular damp cloth.

Stage 4 - design of the doorway

You must decide in advance how to design the doorway. I suggest choosing one of three options:

Stage 5 - assembling the racks

	The position of the load-bearing elements is marked. They are also called rails and are located horizontally. There may be two rows of elements depending on the load and configuration of your storage system. Before marking, the rail is cut to the required length and applied to the wall. Don't forget to check its position with a building level.

How many things does a person need in his wardrobe to be completely happy? The wardrobe cannot be small, because at work you need to follow the dress code, at a party you must comply with it, dress in fashion, enjoy life, combine different styles and options, and make the right impression.

Where to place all these shirts, jeans, trousers, sweaters, jackets? Where to hang belts, glasses and hats? Once upon a time, things were stored in chests. Later they started in the closet. However, more and more often people prefer to make a dressing room, arrange everything on shelves, hang a full-length mirror and in a matter of minutes find the right outfit or combination. It’s very convenient to hang suits by color, put shoes at the bottom, or place things in any other desired order.

A dressing room will save time. Clothes do not wrinkle and are easier to care for. And this is not difficult to do in practice. It’s easy to make a very beautiful dressing room, even with your own hands, if you have a storage room. Many people today agree that a small dressing room is a more rational, practical, attractive solution.

Usually the pantry is not empty. And yet you need to live in a new way, arrange everything according to your own taste and desire. If there are old things of the child in the closet, and there are no plans to add to the family in the near future, it is better to give them to someone or sell them. If it’s a shovel and a rake, it’s better to take them to the dacha and hide them in the garage. Much of what ends up in the pantry should be somewhere else, but for some reason it doesn’t end up there.
